One of the most intriguing things to us about the wine world, is its endless variety. There's a seemingly limitless number of permutations in flavor, structure, and aroma that can be the result of fermented grapes. While there are arguably the same number of factors that influence a wine's character, the grape variety tends to have some of the biggest impact. Again, we find ourselves in a rabbit hole. From altesse to zibibbo, there are more varieties of grapes than makes logical sense, but too often we tend to focus on a handful of "noble varieties". This week we'll explore some of the great things that can come from more humble beginnings.
